We’re hiring a Lead Baker!

 

West Shore Market is currently seeking a LEAD BAKER.

Position Details

  • Pay rate: $22+/hr DOE

  • Schedule: 35-40 hours, 5 days a week. Early morning start time of 6 AM in the off-season and 5 AM in the summer.

  • Summary: The Lead Baker is responsible for the daily operations of the bakery. This person will be expected to make all scones, muffins, cookies, bread, bars, and other pastries from scratch. The Lead Baker will work to meet West Shore Market recipe standards, including quality, timing, and pars. We are looking for someone passionate, hardworking, and proactive who not only keeps our standards high but can add their own creative touch.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare pastries in accordance with recipe requirements and West Shore Market quality standards

  • Maintain proper pars and clearly communicate inventory with other bakers

  • Keep a clean and organized workspace including dishwashing and daily cleanup

  • Cultivate new pastry items depending on the season

  • Assist with ordering as needed

Required Skills

  • Dependable, on time, with reliable transportation

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English

  • Minimum 2 years of professional baking experience (gluten- and allergen-free baking experience a plus)

  • Kitchen management experience: inventory organization, ingredient rotation, clean-as-you-go work ethic

  • Must be able to taste all products, despite food intolerances, for quality control

  • CA state food handlers card required
